Contaminated Water Could Pose Major Health Hazard

Contaminated Water Could Pose Major Health Hazard

An industrial zone accident in Corpus Christi may have contaminated the city’s water supply, prompting officials to warn residents not to use the water for any reason. As of December 16th, officials had lifted a few of the restrictions, but up to 300,000 people were still impacted.

The accident happened when between three and 24 gallons of an asphalt emulsifier, known as Indulin AA-86, was spilled in a way that possibly allowed it to reach the city’s water lines. City officials have met with the property owner to discuss the incident and gather more information to hopefully prevent a repeat from happening in the future.

Toxic Exposure Injuries

Toxic substances, such as Indulin AA-86, must be treated with the utmost caution. When one is mishandled, an accident such as the one that occurred in Corpus Christi may happen, potentially causing a devastating health impact to hundreds of thousands of people. This negligence may be grounds for liability. In this instance, the property owner or the company dealing with the chemical may be held responsible.

If you or a loved one has suffered from adverse health effects as a result of this accident or any other type of toxic substance exposure injury, you may be eligible to receive substantial compensation. While city officials were able to get a warning out as soon as possible in this instance, and took preventative measures including closing schools in the area, it is still possible that numerous individuals may have consumed water that was contaminated. If you or a loved one has fallen ill as a result of this incident, don’t hesitate to contact a Corpus Christi personal injury attorney as soon as possible.
